A Brazilian Supreme Court judge who goes by the name of Alexandre de Moraes ordered a complete ban on Elon Musk’s X in Brazil. This comes after a month-long deadlock over disinformation. In addition, the judge notified the NCA to take necessary actions.

Elon Musk-Brazil Judge Wrangle:
The Musk-Brazil judge controversy began when Alexandre de Moraes put in an order to suspend various accounts on X, formerly known as Twitter. The accounts were associated to the followers of Brazil’s previous president Jair Bolsonaro. To recall, Bolsonaro reportedly attempted to discredit the voting system in the 2022 election, which he lost.
The Brazil authorities are probing whether Jair Bolsonaro conspired in a violent attempt to stop the current president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from beginning his duty in office in January 2023. In April, Alexandre de Moraes ordered an investigation of Elon Musk for indicting of activating several banned accounts.

On the flip side, X claims that Alexandre de Moraes jeopardized the arrest of one of its representatives in Brazil if it did not obey. Though X services were available for users in Brazil, Musk had to close all its offices due to the judge’s order. Apart from this, Musk, who took over X in 2022, responded intensely and labeled Moraes as an evil dictator disguised as a judge.
X Ban in Brazil:
The court said that the ban will remain til all court-connected orders on X are obeyed. Besides, the ban will stay til a new representative is appointed in Brazil. Last week, Moraes said that Musk will be given 24 hours to appoint a new spokesperson or face suspension. Since the time limit has passed, X services in Brazil are suspended.
